Byron Bay Bliss Balls
I quite by accident came across Byron Bay Bliss Balls while holidaying in Melbourne, staying at my sisters. She has the ‘snack’ cupboard - more like walk in pantry - and I happened to be having a bit of a hunt around one afternoon and spied the cute snack pack packaging on one of the shelves. Long story short, because I have been known to go on a bit, I enquired about their taste and got rave reviews. I tried for myself and was instantly on the gram making enquiries.
With the crazy & hectic pace with which we all seem to be living our lives at these days, Bliss Balls have appeared and filled a gap in the ‘on the run’ food market. We like to do things a little differently here and love to expose you guys to new brands…Aurelien & the team at Byron Bay Bliss Balls bent over backwards to work with us in getting some product here and we are thrilled to be able to include the snack packs in a couple of our pre-packed gift boxes.
Read on to find out how these delicious snacks can be a crunchy surprise in your next salad or with yoghurt!
Why are you doing what you do/motivation to start your business?
After working for a little while in large company, I wanted to give a bit more sense into my everyday work. I found a good purpose into feeding people with healthy and nasty-free products like the Bliss Balls we are making. I am now very proud of what I am doing, I can explain it very easily to anyone and show the end result of my work.
How did you decide on your brand/business name/any specific meaning behind it?
Our Bliss Balls recipes were born in Byron Bay in 2009 and were initially sold only in this area, this is why it has been called Byron Bay Bliss Balls. We are now selling our Bliss Balls everywhere in Australia and more recently in New Zealand with Gratitude :)
Biggest lesson you’ve learnt in business?
Be yourself and do what you love.
Got a tip for the best way to use/consume your product?
Most people just eat a bliss ball during the day as a healthy snack to get a boost of energy until the next meal. You can also have it as a sweet treat for dessert or with your coffee.
An original way is to break the bliss ball into small parts and sprinkle it in a fruit salad or in yoghurt, it add some texture and a nice crunchiness to it, if served to a friend like this, he/she will often ask you what’s your secret to make such a nice salad/yoghurt!
What are some small things that make your day?
I just love a nice blue sky in the morning and have a breakfast outside with palm trees in my sight. I also love this rare and nice little breeze coming out of nowhere when it is very hot outside!
What takes up too much of your time?
I have to spend a bit of time behind my computer for administrative tasks for the business which is quite normal, but I would prefer spend more time with customers and suppliers or in the kitchen to work on new yummy recipes.
Favourite thing to do to relax/unwind?
Stopping by the beach after work and having a quick and refreshing swim
What are you most grateful and thankful for in your life?
Having a great family, being healthy and living in Australia.
What TV show has you hooked at the moment?
“Call my agent”, it’s a comedy TV show about a talent agency. Very funny!
If you could invite three famous people for cocktails and canapes - who would they be?
It might sound a bit cheesy, but I rather swap with inviting my brother and my 2 nieces who are living in Europe!
